Google Wallet isn’t just for contactless payments. The app lets you add all kinds of documents, from boarding passes and passports to loyalty program membership cards. For everything else, Wallet has an option to add, well, “Everything else.” The ability to add custom documents is a useful one to keep things like car insurance account info or your library card on you at all times. As reported by Android Authority, this functionality just got a significant upgrade.
Until recently, so-called custom passes created using the Wallet app’s Everything else option were fixed, with the information you added locked to its initial state. If you entered your info incorrectly or needed to change any aspect of a custom pass after the fact, you had to delete the pass and add it again with new information.
Now, as AA writes, you’re able to edit the information in your custom passes without having to recreate them entirely. The new functionality seems to be rolling out gradually, but once you have access, you’ll see an Edit button in the settings menu for custom passes (accessible via the three-dot icon displayed in the upper right corner when viewing a custom pass).
It’s easier than ever to manage custom passes
If you regularly add custom passes to the Google Wallet app, the ability to edit them may be a significant quality-of-life improvement. The initial lack of this option seems like a real oversight — the ability to save custom passes was added last year, and we’re only just now getting the option to change them after the fact.
This new addition is apparently rolling out in stages, as neither I nor Android Authority’s Hadlee Simons have access yet. Some users do, though, so if this is something you’re looking forward to, keep an eye out.
