Samsung’s Galaxy S25 phones have been out for a few months now, which means it’s time for the Fan Edition (FE) of the S25 to hit the shelves.
These FE phones are intended to bring out the best of their namesake device while compromising on details that don’t matter as much.
However, Samsung doesn’t always manage to strike a balance effectively with Galaxy FE phones.
The Galaxy S25, despite offering limited improvements over its predecessor, is a great Android phone inside and out.
While the Galaxy S25 FE isn’t out yet, we’ve collated enough leaks, rumors, and news to sketch out a good idea of what it will look like.
Here’s everything we know about the Galaxy S25 FE so far.
Samsung Galaxy S25 FE: Design, specs, and price
Galaxy FE phones are designed to look as similar as possible to the standard editions, but there are always a few subtle changes that set them apart.
The Galaxy S25 sports black rings around its rear cameras, but leaked renders of the Galaxy S25 FE show silver rings around its rear cameras.
Apart from this, the phones look identical. You’ll struggle to tell them apart unless you know exactly what to look for.
Earlier leaks of Galaxy S25 FE renders show silver rings around the rear camera, but the newer leak from the Wireless Power Consortium is a more reliable source.
However, the earlier leaks contain measurements that show more differences between the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 FE. The inaccuracy of the source’s renders regarding the camera rings means we shouldn’t take these numbers as fact just yet.
The Galaxy S25 FE reportedly measures 161.4 x 76.6 x 7.4mm, and the Galaxy S25 measures 146.9 x 70.5 x 7.2 mm.
This makes it slightly thicker than the base Galaxy S25, and slightly taller and wider than the Galaxy S25+.
The added width appears to be thanks to the larger bezels, which accommodate a display almost identical to the Galaxy S25+’s
The same report that leaked the initial renders indicated that the Galaxy S25 FE will have a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
However, its peak brightness tops out at 2,600 nits, slightly lower than the 2,700 nits of the Galaxy S25.
Overall, the design and display of the Galaxy S25 FE look to be just as good in practice as the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+. However, the internal hardware doesn’t match up.
The Galaxy S25 FE will reportedly have 8GB RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage.
It will likely use the Exynos 2400e chipset, the same processor found in the Galaxy S24 FE.
This was not an impressive chipset on that phone, and with the AI features Samsung is cramming into its latest devices, there is a chance the Galaxy S25 FE won’t be able to keep up with the latest developments in Android software and AI.
However, another source reported that Samsung is preparing the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip as a backup in case it cannot produce enough Exynos 2400e chipsets.
This is a significantly more powerful chipset, but this decision could correspond with a price hike.
It’s not all bad news. A surprising report indicated that the Galaxy S25 FE could support 45W wired charging.
When the Galaxy S25 tops out at 25W, this could be a significant factor for people who don’t need high-end performance but want their phone’s battery topped up at all times.
However, until we’re able to plug the Galaxy S25 FE in, we won’t know whether this 45W charging speed will translate into noticeably shorter charging times.
There is no news on whether the wireless charging speed will improve over the Galaxy S25’s 15W maximum, but it looks to feature Qi2-ready wireless charging.
We haven’t seen a reliable source confirm the price of the Galaxy S25 FE, but as the Galaxy S25 FE retailed at $650 on launch, we would expect the Galaxy S25 FE to cost the same or no more than $700.
There’s also no news on a release date yet, but as its predecessor launched in October 2024, we would expect the Galaxy S25 to launch around the same time this year.
Samsung Galaxy S25 FE: Software and cameras
An early firmware build confirmed that the Galaxy S25 FE will run Android 16 with OneUI 8.0 out of the box.
There’s no news on software support or whether Samsung will limit the AI features available on the device, like Google did with the Pixel 9a.
The Galaxy S25’s cameras will be a mix of new and old. It will reportedly have the same 12MP selfie camera as the Galaxy S25 FE, but the same 50MP main sensor as the S24 FE.
The result is that the ultrawide and telephoto lenses won’t produce the same quality photos as the Galaxy S25.
The Galaxy S25 FE is an affordable version of the Galaxy S25
While some of the details of the Galaxy S25 FE have yet to be revealed, we have a good idea of what to expect.
The biggest question that’s yet to be answered is which chipset it will ship with. This will have significant implications for the phone’s price and performance, and will have a heavy influence on our review.
